TEAM Summer School in Glasgow
The Universtiy of Glasgow played host to the TEAM Summer School 2018 which coincided with the TEAM Mid-Term Review Meeting.
The Summer School this year focused on design sprints, project management and career development training.
A key feature of TEAM are the Design Sprints to produce a solution for a particular “need” of a patient group within a short space of time, providing an unparalleled interdisciplinary, intersectoral and translational training experience for ESRs, while encouraging a focus on impact and stakeholder engagement.
Overall, ESRs enjoyed the collaborative process of mapping, skteching, prototyping and testing in groups. This process developed innovative and entrepreneurial thinking amongst the ESRs. It also provided opportunity to ESRs to evaluate peer theories and assumptions of other projects.
In addition to design sprints, guest talks were provided by academic and industry researchers such as Victoria Betton (mHabitat), Alison Burrows (University of Bristol), Maria Wolters (University of Edinburgh) and Conor Lenihan (University College Cork). These talks included:
- Empirically derived user personas
- Connected teams and codesign.
- Design fictions
- Your mental health matters, too - taking care of yourself during the research process.
